June 17, 1931 — February 13, 2023

Agnes Kelley, 91, of Papillion, passed away peacefully on February 13th,
2023, surrounded by family in Omaha, NE.

Agnes was born on June 17th, 1931, the 5th born child of George P. and
Anna C. (Schram) Perlinger at home on the farm south of Paxton, NE.
Agnes grew up during the Great Depression and learned a lot about
making ends meet from her parents and older siblings. She helped with
chores, including milking their cow, cooking, housework and helping to
care for the younger children.

She attended a one room country school 1st through 8th grade. She
then attended St. Patrick’s High School in North Platte, NE, graduating in
1948. While in high school she boarded with a family during the week,
earning her room and board by babysitting the family’s children,
cooking and cleaning. She would return home to the farm on the
weekends.

After graduating, Agnes left the farm and headed to Omaha for work,
following her older sisters Doris and Marge. She worked at Livestock
National and Commercial Federal Banks in South Omaha. During this
time she and her roommate would often take the streetcar to Downtown
Omaha to shop and eat.   Agnes spent the majority of her career working
at Ralston Bank as a bookkeeper until she retired in 1993.
In May of 1952, Agnes met Al Kelley at the Music Box Dance Hall, in
Omaha. On May 2, 1953, they were married at St. Patrick’s Catholic
Church in Paxton, NE.  Agnes and Al were blessed with four children,
Mark, Debra, Karen and Douglas. The couple made their home in
Papillion, NE. They resided for a time at the Papio Hotel, paying $50 a
month rent, while saving to build a house. They moved into their new
home on South Harrison St. in 1957 and resided there for 63 yrs. In
2020 they moved to Ashland, NE to reside at Oxbow Living Center.

Agnes, was a friendly, gracious lady, dedicated to her family and faith.
She prayed The Rosary daily and along with her husband Al, was an
active 65- year member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Papillion.
In the late 60’s and 70’s Agnes was very active in the Sarpy County
Extension. She was very service oriented, always taking food to families
in need, serving on the Altar Society at Church, counting Church
collection money for many years, and as a volunteer at Midlands
Hospital for over 20 yrs. She was very social and loved to visit and have
coffee with the neighbor ladies and other dear friends. Agnes was a
wonderful baker who also enjoyed canning vegetables from their garden.
She traveled extensively with Al throughout their marriage. Over the
years, Agnes and Al enjoyed playing cards and ballroom dancing with
many dear friends and relatives. Agnes treasured spending time with her
