Anna C. Seffron

February 18, 1932 — June 6, 2019

Anna C. Seffron passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, a little after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019. She was 87 years old.

Anna was born in 1932 to Tillie and Joseph Seffron. She was the second of six children and would drop out of school in the eighth grade to take care of her siblings. Anna was a second mother to her brothers and sisters just as she would be to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the decades to come.

Caring for those around her was one of the things that defined Anna. She cared for her own mother through years of illness and was a rock for her grandchildren in the struggles they faced. Her great-grandchildren recall fighting over who got to stay with grandma overnight – she would get them "anything" they wanted. And while she was firm that they would sleep on the pull-out couch, most mornings found them cuddled in her arms.

Anna's big hugs were always accompanied by an "Oh gee!" and her kitchen never failed to produce her family's favorite dishes.

Anna was a woman who loved Elvis and slot machines, video poker and NASCAR, tabloids and Dr. Pepper. Above all these, of course, was Husker football. Anna took turns taking her three grand-daughters to see Nebraska play, teaching them the game and converting all of them into avid fans.

Anna will be laid to rest at Bellevue Cemetery a little after 11 a.m. on Monday, June 10. She is survived by sister Pat Stanek, daughter Vickie, granddaughters Kim (Brian) Kapfer, Kellie Cobaugh and Tracey (Patrick) Maun, great-grandchildren Jessi and Zack Kapfer, and four-legged companions Teddy, Eris and Cleo.
