Barbara was born in Schaller, Iowa, the second of three daughters, to Garland and Pearl Tripp.At eight years old she moved to Omaha where she attended school in Benson.She grew up in an ideal neighborhood surrounded by sweet and wonderful neighbors.She worked in a bakery where she took orders from Elmer "Whitt" Whittamore" at Offut Air Force Base. The two were set up on a date and eventually married.Together they raised seven children: Chuck, Royce, Douglas, Melanie, Colleen, Sheri, and Christopher. Barbara stayed home and took care of the kids until the youngest started school, while Whitt worked two to three jobs.Barbara worked as a Clerk Typist at the Omaha Police Department where she retired in 2000.Barbara excelled at sewing, gardening, and cooking.Her faith was a big part of her life and she participated actively in West Hills Presbyterian Church.She loved to sing to her kids. She encouraged all seven children to pay a musical instrument and would smile proudly at each child's concerts. Barbara was unfortunately widowed in 1994.She has been blessed with fourteen grandchildren.She had a big and giving heart and will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Garland and Pearl Tripp, loving husband of 34 years Elmer and grandson James Whittamore.
She is survived by her children;Charles (Edith) Sanderson, Royce (Michelle), Douglas (Phoebe),
Melanie (Chris) Whittamore-Mantzios, Colleen (Paul) Evans, Sheri (Bob) Diesing and
Christopher and 14 grandchildren.
