Betty A. Beebe

June 26, 1930 — December 27, 2021

Betty Ann (Torczon) Beebe was born on June 26, 1930, in a farm house in Tarnov, Nebraska to Frank and Mary Torczon. Betty was raised with four brothers and three sisters: Edward, Alex, Donald, David, Edomina, Marie, and Norma. Betty and her family enjoyed playing baseball, singing, and card games. Betty attended elementary school at District 60 country school in Platte County and graduated from high school in 1948 from Saint Francis High School in Humphrey, Nebraska.

After high school, Betty and her sister, Norma, moved to Omaha, Nebraska where they purchased a home together. Betty worked at Swift Packing Company for nine years where she operated a comptometer and was a member of the Swift bowling team and choir.

On February 11, 1956, Betty married Prentise Beebe, Jr. at Saint Savior Churchin Omaha, Nebraska. A few years later, Betty and Prentise began homebuilding and in 1961, established Beebe Construction Company, Inc. While raising her children: Cheryl, Gwyn, Alan, and Deanne, Betty taught herself how to design homes and draw blueprints. To further her knowledge in interior design, Betty enrolled in correspondence courses with the La Salle Extension University in Chicago, Illinois, where she honed her skills in selecting paint, flooring, hardware, wood, etc., for both custom and spec homes. Her attention to detail, quality, and style made Beebe Construction a premier home building company. Over the course of 35 years, Beebe Construction Company built 135 homes in Omaha and surrounding areas. In addition to building, Betty and Prentise always kept an interest in their farming roots and real estate.

While serving in an intrical role of Beebe Construction Company, she always made time to support her children. Home cooked meals, hot breakfasts, playing games, and helping with academics was always a priority. Whether at home or on summer camping trips across the United States, Betty always made certain her family's needs were met. Betty also showed her commitment to faith and community by volunteering at Saint Bernadette elementary school, serving as an RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) sponsor through Saint Bernadette Church, and a member of the Saint Columbkille women's bible study group.

In retirement, Betty spent time attending sporting events/recitals for her 14 grandchildren and pursued her love for learning and creativity by taking classes in ballroom dancing, auto body, chinese cooking, stain glass, cake decorating, flower arranging, and horticulture. Domestic and international travel were also of interest. Some highlights of Betty's travels included visits to China, Taiwan, Tokyo, Thailand, Italy, Grand Tetons, and an Alaskan cruise.

Although Betty was afflicted with Alzheimers, she never lost her love for learning, life or faith. She was always willing to try something new, sing songs and pray. Her patience, love, kindness, and gentle spirit were always a part of who she was and will be forever remembered.
