Chris is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Kay; their two young daughters, Rachel and Ellie; his devoted black lab, Ruger; parents, Wade and Jane Jessen; and two sisters Sara (Josh) Swan and Laura Jessen.
He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Warren and Mary Smith; and nieces Sadie Swan and Kennedy Jessen.
Chris was truly one of a kind.As a husband and father, Chris was selfless, patient, forgiving, protective, and loving.As a son, brother, and friend, Chris was unconditionally loyal and generous.He was an avid outdoorsman and sports lover and could often be found hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching Husker football and Kansas basketball games. His absolute favorite pastimes, however, were with Rachel and Ellie, making up dance routines, getting weekly pedicures, and going to the zoo. Above all, Chris's passion in life was being a husband and father. He loved his family with every fiber of his being and fought to live alongside them until his last breath. His smile and laugh were infectious and he brought out the best in anyone who was blessed to be in his presence.
