Clara Jane Sakalosky

October 14, 1947 — November 29, 2023

Clara was known for her kind hearted nature with endless love and support for family and friends.  She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and was always willing to take a chance to experience new things. As a celebrant of life and living with great purpose, she never missed an opportunity to share each day with those she cared about.  Her love of nature was unsurpassed and enjoyed many local favorites from Waubonsie State Park to the Apple Jack Festival.  She also enjoyed exploring the world with her family from adventures in California and Colorado, the Ozarks, to searching for the perfect seashells in Florida.  Her favorite time of the year was autumn appreciating the beauty in the changing of the leaves and the kinship around a bonfire.

Clara’s spirit embodied faith, hope, and love. She celebrated every blessing and never shrunk from life’s challenges.  She endlessly gave to others in need and was the ear and shoulder for others to find solace.  She never forgot your birthday and made sure you knew you were loved.

Spending time with family was a mainstay, the door of her home was always open, just like her heart, open and inviting.  Decorating for every holiday was required as was cooking for others, trying new recipes and perfecting old ones.  Throughout her life, you may find her in the stands cheering on her loved ones at ball games, performances, or special events.  She loved engaging with her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends no matter the occasion.  Her memory will endure in the lives of those she touched.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband Jim Sakalosky; parents John and Margaret Mahoney; sister Jan Nowaczyk.

She is survived by her children Bryan (Melissa) Sakalosky, Matt Sakalosky, Jeff (Courtney) Sakalosky, Todd Sakalosky, Chad (Elycha-Dane) Sakalosky;20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; significant other Mike Sedlacek; brother Clint (Jayne) Mahoney; and many more family and friends.
