Cyril M. Meister passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 31st 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 5th 2021 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Omaha NE. Burial will follow at the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, NE. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4th 2021 at Bridget Catholic Church in Omaha and will be followed by a Vigil Service starting at 6:00 PM.
Cyril was born November 1st, 1929 at home to Frank and Julia (Stangl) Meister. He played football in high school and later served our country in the Korean war and was honorably discharged. After the war, Cy met Genevieve Lang and the two of them later wed. After moving to Minnesota, they adopted 2 children, Nancy and John.
Cy worked for the airlines while in Minnesota and was transferred to Wichita, KS in 1962. He raised his family in Wichita and worked for Braniff until 1990 when the company went out of business. He later got a job with Federal Express and worked for them until he retired. Over the years, Cy had a love for cars and later developed a passion for motorcycles which he rode for many years. In 1999, Cy was involved in a motorcycle accident that nearly took his life and in which he ultimately lost his leg. In December 2000, Cy married Sharon and lived the rest of his life in Council Bluffs, IA. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon of Council Bluffs, IA; his two children Nancy Chenoweth and John (Diana) Meister;his grandchildren; Kim Gonzalez, Knickolete Sa, Autumn Chenoweth, Mark Chenoweth,Monique Maldonado, Jake Meister, and Nick Meister.
Cy was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Lawrence, Harold, Bob, Arnold, and his sister Marie, and his first wife Genevieve.
