Daniel "Dan" James Filbey

Daniel “Dan” James Filbey September 1, 1996 – April 6, 2025 Daniel James Filbey, 28, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on April 6, 2025. Born on September 1, 1996, Dan was baptized and confirmed at Saint Columbkille Catholic Church and attended Saint Columbkille Catholic School in Papillion, NE before graduating from Papillion-La Vista South High School in 2014. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, through the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2018. After graduation Dan took a position as a Software engineer/ Cyber Security at Nebraska Applied Research Institute. Dan was most recently employed as a senior software developer at Fusion Medical, Omaha, NE, where his creativity, precision, and leadership were deeply valued. Dan was a man of quiet strength and deep compassion. He had a heart for listening—always attentive, always present, and always ready with a kind word or thoughtful advice. He was known for his curiosity and drive, especially when it came to health and fitness, often pursuing new challenges in his wellness journey. He enjoyed cooking, weight lifting, biking and walking. Whether through a helping hand or a listening ear, Dan left a lasting impact on those around him. He is survived by his loving parents, Thomas Edward and Mary Jean (Gross) Filbey; his brother, Thomas Christopher Filbey, and his wife, Jade Kaitlin Filbey; and their children, Sophie Lynn Filbey and Thomas Richard Filbey. Dan will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
