Darlene "Dart" Higgins died peacefully at home while awaiting the arrival of loved ones on May 8, 2021.
Darlene was born, along with her twin Arlene "Art," to Arland and Katherine "Bunnie" Kidman in the Lost River Valley near Arco, Idaho. Her joyful youth was filled with family and good friends. She regaled us with tales of swimming in James Creek, riding a pony name Patches, and the millions of adventures with her twin and their friends.
She told stories of horses, kittens, and frightful chickens. Of football and basketball games, cheerleading, and confessions of driving fast down the lanes around the ranch. She described life with loving, hard-working parents surrounding by hay fields, animals, and gardens as well as mischief at its best. She developed into a craftsman as well as a poet producing heartfelt works.
Dart married Chuck Higgins at the age of 18 years and lived throughout the country with their three children; finally settling in Omaha, Nebraska. She worked for the Ralston Public School System until she retired. Friendships made here have lasted to the end of her life and were treasured.
She was blessed with longtime companion Jack Bledsoe and had tons of stories about their trips to see family, treasure hunting, and taking care of each other.
Surviving are her children Scott (Martha) Higgins, Shana Higgins, Mike (Susan) Higgins; her much loved grandchildren Jamie, Travis (Fran), Drew, Joshua, and Dillon; and great-grandchildren Colton, Cody, and Sol.
