David Harold Johnson was born in Cameron, Missouri June 17, 1942 and passed peacefully on December 18, 2021at the age of 79.
He loved trains, Wyoming, baseball, football, and Nascar in that order.His career with Burlington Northern railroad as a Relay Operator spanned over three decades, which is where his love of trains began.
David and Jean married in 1975, they lived in Creston, Iowa until 1980 when they moved to Casper, Wyoming with the Burlington Northern railroad.They later relocated to Wheatland, Wyoming where David retired from the railroad.David moved from Wyoming to Bellevue, Nebraska in 2013 to enjoy his retirement nearer to family.
David had 2 children, Christine Cornwell and Dennis Johnson and a step-daughter Angela Kerby.
Survived by, Daughter Christine (Ronald) Cornwell, Elkhart, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Justin (Melissa) Cornwell, Colton (Jordan) Cornwell, Kylie (Clayton) Cory; 3 great-grandchildren, Drake, Avery and Lorraine. Step-Daughter Angela (Steve) Kerby, Bellevue, Nebraska, 2 grandchildren, Brandon (Mary) Kerby and Tara (Mark) Day; 4 great-grandchildren , Wendy, Sofia, Lila and Bryan; one brother, Marvin Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his parents Harold and Dorothy (Carter) Johnson, wife Marcella "Jean" Johnson,Son Dennis P. Johnson, brothers Buddy (Madonna) Johnson, Richard (Nedra)Johnson and sister Shirley (Jerold) Combs.
David received an honorable discharge from the Air Force 15th Fighter Interceptor Squadron on February 28, 1964.He will be honored with burial in the Omaha National Cemetery in the spring of 2022.
