Deirdre Hund Heller passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Josie Harper Hospice House at the age of 81 years.
Dee was born in Wichita Falls, Tx. While she was the music director at Shepard AFB, Dee met and married her amazing husband Bob. Their 54-year marriage brought 5 children, 15 grandkids, and 4 great-grandkids into their family.
As an internationally recognized artist, her paintings are displayed in galleries, offices, and homes around the globe.A long-time Omaha artist, Dee was one of the founding members of The Passageway of Color Gallery & Twenty Talents Art Gallery and an avid educator of her fellow artists bringing many noted artists to Omaha for seminars. Her Omaha skyline painting was commissioned for the USS Omaha Wardroom. It traveled the world and hung in the offices of two Nebraska Congressmen.
Dee and Bob owned and operated Heller Art Images in Omaha for 22 years.
Dee co-authored the Hatch Amendment to the Primary & Secondary Education Act of 1979 protecting the rights of parents and children.
Dee's infinite love for God and her family was only rivaled by her love for Nebraska Football and her dogs.
Dee will be greeted in heaven by her parents Albert and Molly Hund and a large pack of family dogs. She will be missed dearly by husband Bob, children Tim Heller (Cynthia), Mike Heller (Cassy), Stephanie Durr (John), Lisa Hobday (Greg), Kate Thomas (Brett), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many "adopted" children, extended family, friends and her beloved dogs Clancy and Fiona.
Her legacy is Love, Faith, and Creativity.
