Dolly L. Abrams

August 21, 1957 — March 22, 2024

Dolly came into this world a fighter and left it just the same. Never one for giving up, she was strong and resilient but warm and compassionate, equally. She passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side on March 22, 2024 – just 8 days short of the 8th year anniversary of her own mother’s passing.

She was born in Sturgis, Kentucky on August 21, 1957 to Anita “Lorene” Turner, who was just as strong-willed and stubborn but with their beautiful bond that could never be broken. She grew up alongside her Aunt JoAnne, so close and as well in age, enough to be sisters, and from whom she received her namesake as JoJo’s little “Dolly”

Dolly met the love of her life, George in 1972 while they were on opposite sides of a double date with their friends. As fate would have it, their other dates didn’t work out and so their budding relationship began. After 4 years of roses on her car to 13 inches of his haircut ultimatum that was given at the behest of her mother, George and Dolly couldn’t wait to start their new lives together, so the two were married on July 31, 1976

Dolly and George couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their 3 beautiful children meant the whole world to them.

As much as Dolly loved her children, her favorite role was that of Grandma. She adored her grandkids and treasured her time with them. She absolutely loved being there for them, never failing to be available for any of their accomplishments or events. Most of all, Dolly loved to be the host to any and all of the festive holiday parties and dinners so she could go above and beyond for her loved ones to have the wonderful memories which are now immensely cherished.

Dolly also never failed to make an impact on all of the lives she touched and the paths she crossed. With her loving and caring nature, Dolly has made true and lasting friendships that she held dear to her heart.

Dolly loved being a hairstylist for 38 years. She worked for Great Clips for over 25 of them, making lifelong friends and wonderful memories. However, her true passion was working with the elderly in care centers and retirement communities. She had such a special gift and a joy in connecting with all of her clients.

She will always be remembered for being a truly genuine and caring person with the way that she strongly held the weight of other’s burdens so that they may have peace.

We couldn’t have asked for a better Wife, Mother, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, but most importantly, Friend. We will miss Dolly every single day, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

Dolly was preceded in death by her mother Lorene, her brother Charles, and her aunt JoAnne. She is survived by her husband George, her sons Joseph and Nicholas (Rachel), her daughter Brandie (Mena), her precious grandchildren Olivia and Pierce, her sister Patti (Rick) and brother Jason (Erin)
