Donna Mae Curtis

Donna Mae Curtis, age 83, of Papillion, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at her home in Papillion surrounded by her family. She was born on September 12, 1941, to Don and Dorothy Colwell at her Grandma Teeter’s home in Clarinda, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Dorothy Colwell, infant sister Margaret Joyce and Granddaughter Samantha Plantenberg. She is survived by her loving husband Robert Curtis, daughter Patty (Kenny) Plantenberg of Crofton, NE.; son Bobby (Wendy) Curtis of Omaha, daughter Dawn (Larry) Fryrear of Papillion and sister Julia Humphrey of Omaha. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeremy (Lexy) Plantenberg of Yankton, SD.; Matthew (Robert) Adair also of Yankton, SD.; Alysha Curtis, Danielle Curtis of Omaha, Lily (Branden) Ovens of Papillion, DJ (Jordan) Dodge of Omaha, Colton Curtis of Colorado Springs, CO.; Kaden Curtis, Jennifer Kjenstead and Louis Kjenstead all of Omaha. 14 great grandchildren and blessed with many wonderful in-laws, nieces and nephews. Donna met Bob Curtis in 1959 and they were married 3 weeks later on October 3, 1959. They lived and worked in Omaha and then moved to Papillion in 1972. She was a homemaker and mom to many of the children on Bonnie Ave. Donna was employed with her partner in crime, Joann Warner, as housekeepers for the Carlisle and Clarion hotels in Omaha. From there she was a “lunch lady” at La Vista West Elementary until her retirement.

Donna lived a long and full life, was loved by everyone she knew or met. She loved to laugh and always had a smile. We are truly blessed to have had her as long as we did. The funeral will be 10:00am January 4, 2025, at Bethany Funeral Home in La Vista. Visitation will be before the service at 9 am. Burial will be in the Westlawn Hillcrest Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be directed to the family.
