It is with a heavy heart that we share the loss of Donna Lynam. She passed away on March 31st, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family in life and passing.
Donna was born March 4th, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri. She later moved to Papillion with her family where she eventually graduated from Papillion LaVista High School in 1980. After graduating high school, she met and married the father of her children, Jeff Stigge. She loved being a mother to her children Josh and Amy, and especially enjoyed cheering for them at their sporting events. Donna met the love of her life, Tom, in 2002 and they married on September 14th, 2007. In doing so, her family doubled with the addition of her children, Andy and Erin. She loved summers at the CWS, cheering on the Jays at Creighton basketball games, and traveling all over the world with her loved ones.
Donna had an extremely successful career in the planning and zoning departments at the City of Gretna and Sarpy County. In 2019 she was deservingly awarded the Nebraska Planning and Zoning Department’s Loretta Ludemann Award for an Outstanding Women in Planning. Donna retired from Sarpy County as the Director of Planning and Building in 2022. Many will remember Donna for all of the time and effort she dedicated to her field of work.
Donna loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her young grandchildren. She had an infectious laugh and she lit up any room she entered. She will forever be remembered as a brave, strong, joy-filled, loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
Donna was preceded in death by brother Bernie Swenson; Father and mother in-law Francis (Link) and Margaret Lynam.
She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years Tom Lynam; parents Judith and Gary Smith; children Josh (Heather) Stigge, Andy (Krista) Lynam, Amy (Alex) Dierks, Erin Lynam; grandchildren Evelyn and Eleanor Stigge, Kinsley Feigenbutz and Lenox Knutson; sister Debbie Jensen; brother Mark (Lisa) Murtha; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
