Dorothy M. Hunt

February 15, 1934 — October 9, 2024

Dorothy May Buckle Hunt died Wednesday, October 9, 2024, with her family by her side.

Dorothy was born on February 15, 1934, in Worland, Wyoming to Frank and Dorothie Buckle.

Dorothy grew up in Worland, graduating from Washakie County High School in 1952.

She earned her diploma in Airline Communications working as a switchboard operator.

On January 16, 1955, Dorothy united in marriage to Doyle Hunt in Worland. Their growing family moved to Grand Island, NE in 1966. Dorothy worked at Miller and Paine and Dillards Department Stores for over 30 years where she earned numerous Pacesetter Sales Awards and other employee accolades.

Dorothy was an active and long standing member of The First Baptist Church and Beacon of Hope Baptist Church in Grand Island before moving to Omaha in 2023.

Dorothy was an amazing homemaker who enjoyed traveling, canning, sewing, and gardening. She was also an avid reader who passed the love of reading on to her children through weekly visits to the library. Dorothy had a quiet strength with a heart for serving others. Deeply compassionate, she spent many hours volunteering at the Salvation Army. Her infectious giggle was a source of joy to all who were lucky enough to experience it. Dorothy found great delight in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family always came first after her love for the Lord. “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

Survivors include her six children and their spouses:  Gary (Shelly) Hunt of Dripping Springs, TX, Kathy Hunt of Rapid City, SD, David (Colleen) Hunt of Omaha, Douglas Hunt of Omaha, Andrea (Dean) Rothschadl of Keller, TX and Tracy (Gary) Pedersen of Houston TX; grandchildren Jeremiah Hunt, Madison Hunt-Gaur, Andrew Hunt, Alyssa (Hunt) Spielman, Sarah Hunt, Lauren (Rothschadl) Paschall, Anna (Rothschadl) Steiger, Caleb, Lindsey, Jacob and Julia Pedersen; and 6 great grandchildren.   Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Doyle Hunt; parents Frank and Dorothie Buckle; brothers John and Bobby Buckle; granddaughters Emma Hunt and Caitlin Hunt.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Dorothy’s name.
