Butch is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Dorothy Hartel; brother Gordon Hartel; and sister Maxine Meier.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Theresa Hartel; children Eric Hartel, Patrick (Nichole) Mulvaney, and Holly Hartel (Jake Johnson); brother Leroy (Ann) Hartel; sisters Shirley Boyd and Marlene (Dean) Parks; and grandchildren Chelsie Craver, Erica Hartel, Ava Mulvaney, Alex Mulvaney, Aidan Mulvaney, Wren Johnson, and Clara Johnson.
