Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Ed was always proud to say he was a "South Omaha Boy". He attended Cross Lutheran Grade School, Omaha South High School and the University of Nebraska where he received his Master's Degree in Psychology. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. In his lifetime he was a man of many talents: a baseball player, a bricklayer, a golfer, and a psychologist. His greatest talent was husband, father, and grandfather. His actions were influenced strongly by unconditional love, framed in acceptance of others as the are, and not as one would want them to be.Preceded in death by first wife Mary, mother of his 4 children; and second wife Stella.Survived by his wife Betty; daughters Mary Hillebran (husband Walter), Rosemary Carlotto (partner Pete Zekauskas), Teresa Ehlert (husband Rick), sons Alan (partner Patrick Rass), Stephen (wife Monique Sawyer); and Betty's children.
