Elsa Margaret Hangren passed away on September 12, 2019, at the age of 98 years. She was born on September 20, 1920. As a child, she made dolls for the neighborhood kids along with doll clothes to wear. She won a national art contest, while she attended Omaha South High School. As a result, her artwork was displayed in the Smithsonian Art Institute in Washington DC. Later on, she and her brother Bill joined one of the first spelunking groups in Maryland. She was frequently written up in the Ralston Recorder for high scores in her bowling league. She also volunteered once a week for Uta Halee Girls Organization. On August 28, 1942, she married her husband, Winfred. Together they had four children. She had many hobbies, including canning, sewing, cooking, bowling, reading mystery novels and being with family.
Elsa was preceded in death by her husband- Winfred Taft,
parents-Anna and Frank Schlichtig, siblings- Frank (Pearl), Pauline Kiggins (Colin), Bill (Mildred), Conrad and Helen Sievers (Ben). Survived by Daughters- Karen L. Wigley (Tom), Sandra L. Eddy (Gary), Gayle A. Hangren, Son- Winfred L. (Donna), Sister- Louise Marvin (Bill), six grandchildren- Colin, Melissa, Jenny, Dawn, Nathan, Kelli and five great-grandchildren- Elliott, Emma, Cora, Kyle and Paige.
