Eric John Schneider was born May 10, 1961, the third son of Charles and Caroline Schneider. He grew up in Brooklyn Center, MN, and attended Park Center High School. He received his GED in 1981, and joined the United States Navy in 1984. His untimely diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes cut his military career short, and he was medically discharged. He eventually moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and earned a diploma in Technical Computer Services from Lincoln School of Commerce 1998. He spent the next 19 years working for the school which is now known as Kaplan University. His cat Mary, named for the Jethro Tull song "Cross Eyed Mary", was his constant companion.
Eric was a devoted son, brother, and uncle whose generosity and loving heart will be forever remembered. He lived his life according to the ideal of freedom-- "not under the control or in the power of another; able to act or be done as one wishes".
"I'm the one who has to die when it's time for me to die. So let me live my life the way I want to." --Frank Zappa
Eric is survived by his loving mother Caroline; his brothers Karl(Lori), Kurt, and Joe; his sisters Gretchen(Joe), Karen, and Mary; 14 nieces and nephews; 10 great nieces and nephews; and devoted friend Kathryn in Lincoln.
