Ernest (Bud) M. Amerine passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at
the age of 93 in Omaha, Nebraska and went to join the love of his life and wife of 63
years, Marge Renfro Amerine, who he has missed deeply since she passed in 2013.
Bud was born in 1924 in Great Bend, Kansas. In 1944, he left his home on the farm to
join the Navy flight program and serve his country in support of World War II. After
transferring to the Air Force, he served as a pilot, flight instructor, and squadron
commander during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was a world traveler and lived
and worked in many U.S. states and foreign countries before retiring in 1975. He was
awarded numerous medals including the Bronze Star.
Bud was preceded in death by his sisters Virginia Bird and Wanda Guesnier, and his son
William Amerine. He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Rychlec, sons Gary Amerine and
Jeff Amerine, daughters Deborah Bayne and Lori Fisher. He is also survived by 14
grandchildren Sandy Bayne, Jason Poole, Justin Poole, Megan Lisowe, Brett Amerine,
Marissa Savells, Ariella Amerine, Jaine Amerine, Jennifer Arguitt, Gary Amerine Jr.,
Garret Amerine, Amber Landers, Autumn Amerine, Shelby Williamson and 22 great
grandchildren.
Bud loved to fish, read, and make wood furniture and crafts. In his retirement, he
became an avid golfer and gardener who enjoyed sharing his love of billiards and card
playing with his family. He will be remembered as a storyteller with a zest for life who
made the most of his 93 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Air Force Aid Society (afas.org) in
honor of Bud.
