Eugene A. Marcley

Eugene Allen Marcley was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 14,1927 & lived there all his life.He passed on October 21 in his home surrounded by the love of his family.

He was a member of The Greatest Generation, as talked about in Tom Brokow's book of the same title. He served his country during the later part of World War II. During his time in the Navy, Eugene was a vital part of the testing for the atomic bomb that would later be used on Japan. Eugene served in the World War II and Korean war campaigns with a combined service of over 8 years.

A man from humble beginnings, Gene, created a beautiful life.
Gene Marcley was "Larger than Life" & never met a stranger he couldn't become friends with. He could talk to anyone anytime, and about anything.He was one of the kindest, friendliest people you'd ever know.Gene was an amazing Dad, Grandfather, Husband, Brother, Neighbor & Friend. He served his community not only as a Navy Veteran but as a Boy Scout leader and Blood Donor.

He absolutely LOVED the outdoors & took his family camping as often as possible. His passion for camping began with simple tent camping and eventually graduated to the great American pop up camper.He was always ready to travel anytime, anyplace.Gene visited parks in Nebraska, Colorado, the Black Hills of South Dakota, Branson, Missouri, Yellowstone, California & Canada.He loved to take a road less traveled just to see where it went.

Grilling and cooking was also a passion and he excelled at his world famous Cinnamon Rolls, Pie crust and assorted delicacies. Gene hosted many barbecues and dinners with family and friends.

He treated all of his family with love & made each of them all feel uniquely special.

He is survived by five children and one sister. Eugene was a grandfather to 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
His wife of 65 years, Janet, passed just two years ago.
