Eugene Francis Miller was born on November 17, 1935 to Frank and Isabel (Weihs) Miller in Buck Grove, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Defiance, Iowa.
After graduating from high school in Defiance, Iowa he helped his dad farm, went to Omaha and worked at Continental Can Co. and Wilson's Co. until 1956 when he enlisted into the Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1958. Upon his discharge, he returned to Omaha, Nebraska and went to Boyles VanSant Business College, worked part – time at the post office then, worked 2 years at Telephone Workers Insurance Co. for 2 years, and then returned to Continental Can Co. for 31 years and retired in 1995.
On September 3, 1960 he married Audrey Heithoff at St. Boniface Church in Elgin, Nebraska and together they had four children; Cynthia, Jeff, Joe, and Suzanne.
He loved fishing and camping. Eugene had a cabin along Raw Hide Creek for many years where you would find him almost every weekend, even snowmobiling in the winter. He loved gardening and had a large garden every year. He liked to sit outside and watch the birds and squirrels fight over the food.
Gene also liked traveling. His "Bucket list" was to visit every state, which he did besides going to Europe and Australia.
Gene passed away September 5, 2019 at the age of 83 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Norma and brother – in – law Tony Bueltel; and brother Mark and sister – in- law Ann Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Audrey of Omaha, Nebraska; children Cynthia Chase of Virginia, Jeff and Judi of Anchorage, Alaska, Joe and Michelle Miller of Papillion, Nebraska, and Suzanne and Mike Gaeta of Lake Havasu, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 1 great – grandchild; brothers Don and Alice of Defiance, Vernon and Mary of Irwin, Iowa, Duane and Sue of Denison, Iowa, Larry of Zepherhills, Florida; and Mary and Joe Gross of Donohue, Iowa; and sister - in - law Pat Miller; and other family members.
