Born and raised in Flint, MI, EvaJon attended the University of Michigan as a full-time student while at the same time beginning her career with the US Postal Service. She earned her bachelors degree from UM and also served 3 years in the US Marine Corps, attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. She later attended the University of Nebraska at Omahas Executive MBA Program and obtained a masters degree in business administration in 2000. In 2003, she was presented the UNO Alumni Associations Citation for Alumnus Achievement. EvaJon was named Postmaster of Omaha in 1995???and proud to direct one of the highest revenue producing postal areas in the nation. Her integrity and passion for excellence and her consideration for people served her well in her lifetime and earned her the respect and affection of numerous individuals both in and out of the workplace. Her career took her many places where she met and created countless friendships that she carried with her wherever she went. Whether in a room of 3 or 3000???EvaJon was at ease speaking to those she felt fortunate to be with. Her legacy of nurturing people helped support and enhance the careers of many postal employees. Her genuine concern for her coworkers and friends was foremost in her life, always giving her time to anyone who needed it. She was active in her community serving on the Boards of The United Way of the Midlands, Goodwill Industries, and The College of Business Administration and The Alumni Association for the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Known as ???EJ??? to her closest friends, she is remembered as honest, responsive, approachable, caring, and fun-loving, with a love for animals that kept her entertained and cheerful. Her life was a blessing???her compassion immeasurable???and her memory a treasure. Preceded in death by her mother and sister. As per EvaJons request, services and interment will be private.
