Francis Daniel Bieker, Lt Col Usaf (Ret)

July 30, 1947 — December 16, 2020

Francis Daniel Bieker was born on July 30, 1947 in Hays, Kansas.He was the oldest of 9 kids.On August 2, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Sheila (Wiesner) Bieker.Fran and Sheila had 4 kids, Jacqueline Bieker, Tony Bieker, Jill Stefanelli and Wesley Bieker.He has 8 beautiful grandchildren: Allie Bieker, Jack Stefanelli, Johnny Bieker, Angelo Stefanelli, Nick Stefanelli, Jules Stefanelli, Jax Bieker, and Kruz Bieker.

Fran started his career as a High School Math and Physics Teacher.He joined the US Air Force and proudly served over 21 years as a Meteorologist.His career took the entire family overseas to Germany and Panama, as well as in Kansas, Nebraska and Illinois.He retired in 1995 as a Lieutenant Colonel.After he retired, he worked as a Civilian and then Contractor for the Air Force continuing his career to Air Force Weather.He then joined his son Tony Bieker as an Insurance Adjustor.Once retired, he and Sheila traveled south in the winters to Corpus Christi TX where they enjoyed the sunny skies and warm Gulf Ocean breezes.More importantly, Fran could spend those winters fishing and catching Pompano in the Gulf!

Fran loved life, especially fishing, boating, dancing, golfing and spending time with family.His grandkids meant the world to him, and he enjoyed teaching them to fish, doing building workshops with them at Lowe's/Home Depot, and reading them books in their younger years.

Fran died Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at home surrounded by family.Fran is now in Heaven with his eldest son Tony, his parents Daniel Bieker and Martina (Kuhn) Bieker, his brothers Tommy Bieker, Stanley Bieker, and Stevie Bieker, and our beloved family pets.He is survived by his wife Sheila, daughters Jacqueline and Jill, his son Wesley, and his eight grandkids.

On behalf of Fran, our family wants to thank the many medical providers and staff at the Nebraska-Western Iowa VA Hospital for giving him a longer life, as he battled cardiovascular disease for many years.We want to especially thank Dr. Amy Arouni, who was his Cardiologist for most of his fight.
