Frank R. Novotny May 29, 1931 - November 8, 2024 Frank grew up in South Omaha and graduated from South High School. He joined the Army infantry and served during the Korean war. Frank was a long-time member of St. Bernadette’s parish as well as the South Omaha Eagles, VFW and American Legion. Frank enjoyed gardening and had an entire lot dedicated to tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, peppers, beans, and dill. Frank enjoyed watching Nebraska football, pro football, and Nascar, Frank raised his family in South Omaha and worked over 40 years at Union Pacific as a car inspector. Frank was an entrepreneur, owning several laundry mats. Frank enjoyed spending his retirement years going to the casino and eating at the buffets. Frank had a great sense of humor and loved traditional Czech food, never passing up a good kolache. Frank spent his final months at South Haven in Wahoo. Frank made several friends, including other Korean war veterans who ate with him during meals Age 93 Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years Carolyn J. Novotny; grandson Steven; daughters-in-law Sandy and Susan; son-in-law Mark. Frank is survived by his children Dale, Joan Carter, Glenn (Michele), and James; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
