Gary Lee Slowik was born on September 4, 1951 to John and Dorothy Slowik, the eldest of five sons. He passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024 on the birthday of his youngest brother who was at his side.
Gary attended St. Adalbert's Grade School, graduating in 1965. He was a quiet but above average student receiving several reading awards as well as having an article published in Highlights Kids Magazine. He received a scholarship to attend Ryan High School and graduated from Ryan in 1969. He went on to attend 2 years of college at UNO.
He started working for Pepsi Bottling Company while attending classes at Radio Engineering Institute to learn the electronics field. He successfully passed his Electronics Technicians Qualifications and his career in TV began.
He went to work for WOWT-TV as a photographer/Technician for several years before moving on to Lodes-Peterson Productions as a Chief Engineer. He then moved to KETV as a Satellite Truck Operator/Engineer, He also spent a short time at KMTV.
His passion was photography, taking numerous trips throughout the country as well as Europe on photo adventures. He was a avid golfer in his earlier years before taking up Darts, something he really enjoyed and was good at.
Gary was preceded in death by our Parents, John and Dorothy, Brother; Mike and Nephew Matt. He is survived by Brothers Jack (Denise), David and Donald (Cindy), Sister-in-law Sue and Nieces and Nephews as well as may family and friends.
