Gerald "Jerry" Morehouse, Jr.

It is with a heavy heart that we sadly announce the passing of Jerry Morehouse Jr . Jerry was involved in a car accident on Monday Dec 4th and he died peacefully Monday Dec 11, 2023 after succumbing to his injuries. Jerry grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska and graduated from Bellevue High School. He then enrolled in college at Creighton University but later left Creighton to join the Marines and go fight for our country in Vietnam. There he made many lifelong friends, who he would meet up with in Las Vegas regularly for the rest of his life. He returned from the war and started working for UPS, driving a package truck, before being asked by his Mother to “come help Dad” at the family business. Jerry’s Grandfather William Newel Morehouse started the company that Jerry would eventually take over from his Father and pass on to his sons. He enjoyed his many years of running the family business making friends everywhere he went, sharing jokes every chance he got, and helping people out every time he could. Many employees felt that Jerry was as much a father figure to them as he was an employer, and of that, we know he would be immensely proud. After retiring from trucking in 2010, Jerry and Rita began to spend winters in Arizona . He quickly became a neighborhood favorite, still telling jokes and helping people whenever he could. As time marched on and Alzheimer’s took its toll, Jerry transitioned from being the one helping to being the one being helped by his family of neighbors, to whom we are extremely grateful. He lived a life that anyone would be proud of. We will all miss him dearly. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Gerald Sr. and Louise Morehouse. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Rita J. Morehouse; children Brad (Michelle) Morehouse, Curt (Deana) Morehouse, Kenny Morehouse, Jill (Eric) Hansen; grandchildren Ciara (Christian) Schneider, Sydney Morehouse, Sophie Morehouse, Miles Morehouse, Remi Morehouse, Ryder Morehouse, Ella Morehouse, Cecily Morehouse, Lauren Hansen, Cole Hansen, Kady Morehouse, Collin Hansen, Kenzie Morehouse; brother David Morehouse; and many more family and friends. The family has requested memorial donations be directed to the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org/nebraska).
