Tom and Gundy
An Inseparable Couple

Thomas A. Pierce was born January 27, 1928 in Lakewood, Ohio to parents Harvey and Margaret Pierce.

Gundula K. Pierce was born January 11, 1928 in Magdeburg, Germany to parents Heinrich and Irma Baer.

Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force at the breakout of the Korean War in July, 1950.He served with distinction for 26 years as an information specialist, technician and superintendent. He retired as a senior master sergeant and was the recipient of several military decorations for meritorious service. His career field, now known as public affairs, took him to several assignments in the U.S., Europe, Japan and Vietnam.

While in Germany, Tom met and subsequently married the love of his life, Gundula Baer, a beautiful ray of sunshine who served as secretary/interpreter for the U.S. Air Force.
Tom and Gundy were inseparable and thoroughly enjoyed the military life and the many experiences encountered during their travels.

Tom's curiosity led him to master many hobbies:photography, wood carving, barbed wire collecting, hunting, fishing, golf, gardening and anything else that appealed to him at the time.He excelled at all of these (including golf, if you count a proud accumulation of several hundred balls found in the rough over the years).

Gundy was a perfect match for Tom, totally loyal and supportive. She shared in Tom's gardening, loved flowers, enjoyed stamp collecting, created many of her own clothes and always greeted everyone with a warm smile.

Gundy's most recent passion was volunteering at the Papillion, Nebraska Family History Center. There she helped many people over the years trace their German ancestry.
Gundy loved the Center and everyone there. That love was returned from everyone she met.

This remarkable couple developed lasting friendships not only in the USA, but throughout the world. And every friend was special. What a gift.

Thanks, Tom.Thanks, Gundy. Thanks to you both for being so special.

Rest in Peace Dear Friends
