800x600 Born August 30, 1915 in Omaha, NE. Helen passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on January 1, 2014. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Carl L. Shramek. Helen was the daughter of the late Henry A. and Helen C. Shoehigh. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Vincent, Eugene, Woodrow and Alvin Shoehigh. She is survived by sisters-in-law Joan (Eugene) and Juanita (Alvin) Shoehigh. Helen was a beloved aunt to a large extended family. These include: Linda Bertch, Linda Krueger, Lori (Dan) Walsh, Carol Ostronic, William (Julie) Shoehigh, and Susan (Vern) McGowen. In addition, she was a great-aunt to Carl Bertch Jr., Mark (Danielle) Bertch, Jaclyn (Alvaro) Ostronic, Kayla Ostronic, Kasey Ostronic, and Gina McGowen. Helen was a great-great aunt to Nolan Bertch. Helen and her late husband truly lived the American dream. Helen will be remembered for her vibrant personality, as well as devotion to the institution of marriage. Full of love for her family to the very end, Helen will be reunited with the love of her life. She will be deeply missed by both family and friends. Visitation for family and friends Friday, January 10th, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Saturday, January 11th, 9:00 a.m. Bethany Funeral Home Chapel to St. Mary Catholic Church (36th and Q St.) for 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
