Idora Durkop (nee Moore) passed away peacefully at home on the evening of Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
Idora was born January 3, 1932 in Stoutland, Missouri to Glen and Jessie (Looney) Moore. Her dad worked in bomber plants during the war and they moved several times, finally settling outside of Papillion where she met her future husband.
She graduated from Papillion High School in 1951. She married Floyd Durkop on October 9, 1954, at United Methodist Church in Papillion. They were married almost 67 years and together for over 70 years. Together they farmed, raised a family, and enjoyed life together.
Idora worked at the Bell Telephone Company in Omaha before she was married and bought her parents their first telephone. She was a real servant for many organizations; Sunday school teacher at United Methodist Church, 4-H leader, Extension Club, School Board member for Portal School (the original one-room school), Election Board Worker, Coast Guard Auxiliary member, Midland Hospital Auxiliary, Sautter House Restoration Committee, Jobs Daughter volunteer, Bible Study Fellowship group leader, loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.
Idora loved to sew and she was really good at it. She also loved to read....anything; cookbooks, magazines, all types of books. She also loved to travel around with Floyd to fish, to a football game, or anywhere the road took them.
She loved her family and would pray for them daily. She loved being a grandma and her face would light up when her family was around. Most of all, she loved Jesus and had a personal relationship with Him and wanted others to know Him as well. Bible Study Fellowship was a big part of her life for many, many years and the friendships she made in that wonderful organization were still a part of her life to the end.
Idora is survived by her beloved husband, Floyd; children Melissa (Rick) Bunyard of Fullerton, California, Amy (Tim) Reznicek of North Bend, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren Donielle and Henry Bunyard and Katy (Trevor) Jenner and Paul Reznicek; brother Bob (Elaine) Moore of Papillion; nieces and nephews David (Jenny), Dan (Cheri), Debbie (Steve), Don (Angie), Duane Moore, and Bill Snide.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Gary; an infant daughter; and brothers Kenny, Dwight, and Michael Moore.
We would like to thank Endless Journey Hospice Care for their kindness during the last days of her life. They were very kind and helpful. We are also very grateful to all the friends and wonderful neighbors that visited faithfully when they were unable to get around and visit others. Their neighbors, the Kandal Family, are extremely important, caring, and loving to our parents and family!
