James Logan

June 5, 1953 — December 15, 2020

James Allen Logan; retired forklift operator for Shared Services, father of three, devoted husband, and loving grandfather passed away on December 15th, 2020 at the age of 67 following a prolonged battle with COVID-19.

Preceded in death by parents Jalmer Stan & Donna Marie Logan, brother Jeffrey Logan, and son Allen Logan. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Logan, sons Matthew Logan & Kenneth Logan, and 5 grandchildren.

James (Jim to friends and family) was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on Friday June 5th, 1953 to Jalmer and Donna Marie Logan. He grew up in Omaha where he attended Mary Our Queen Catholic School and Ryan High School. After graduating in 1972, Jim began working for Methodist Hospital kitchen services. In February 1973, he met his future wife, Kathleen, on a blind date; They were engaged by October of the same year and married at St. Agnes Church on July 26th, 1975. Their first son, Allen, was born in September 1979 but passed tragically shortly thereafter. They were blessed with their two surviving sons, Matthew & Kenneth, in October 1980 and February 1982. Jim and Kathy's blessings continued with 5 grandchildren. Jim retired from Methodist's warehouse division, Shared Services, as a forklift operator in 2016 after 44 years.

Jim was a man of few words; He kept his circle small and used those few words to tell the people in that circle how much they meant to him. He will be remembered as a loving husband, proud father, and a dedicated grandfather. Jim loved through his words and his actions: He worked his hands to the bone to provide for his family and he did not suffer fools lightly. Almost every story about Jim begins with him being a bit of a curmudgeon before dropping everything to help someone in need. Jim died the same way that he lived: A good, honest, decent man. He was the best of us, taken too soon.
