Jeannine Marie "Jean" Romsa, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 12, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born in Portland, Oregon, Jean moved to Omaha shortly after her birth and grew up in South Omaha. She attended Holy Ghost School and attended Bryan High School. Throughout her life, Jean lived in Millard, South Dakota, Thurston, and Bellevue.
Jean had a diverse and fulfilling career, contributing her talents to several organizations including the Omaha Mayor's Office, Oriental Trading Company, Werner Enterprises, Child Saving Institute, the Archdiocese of Omaha, Food Bank of the Heartland, and Holy Name Housing. Her work reflected her dedication to serving her community.
In her personal life, Jean found joy in creative pursuits such as pottery and sewing. She also loved planting, attending her grandchildrens' functions, and spending time with friends playing keno. These hobbies brought her happiness and allowed her to share her creativity with those around her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents James and Betty McGovern; sister Judie Stull; and brothers Jim McGovern and Terry McGovern. She is lovingly remembered by her children Trigve Romsa Jr.; Erik Romsa (Courtney); Sara Preister (Justin); grandchildren Jaysen and Cayden Preister; Layton, Joylyn, and Hayley Jean Romsa; siblings Dan McGovern, Joe McGovern, Jenny Kelly, Liz Tate, Doug Fees, and Nancy Swanson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Jean’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she be remembered for the love she shared with others and the joy she brought into their lives.
