Jeanne Claire Whited was born & raised in Omaha, NE, by her parents, Asa and Johanna Whited. She was baptized and confirmed at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church. She and Danny D. Houston were married on May 25, 1948 at that church. They made their home in Ralston and were one of the early members of Trinity E.U.B. Church (now United Methodist). Together they raised 3 children- Curt, Scott and Cathy Jo.
A stay at home mom, Jeanne was active in Jr. Women’s Club, P.T.A., helped with her children’s activities and never missed their various athletic events. Dancing, fishing and spending time with Danny’s Shriner group were some of her favorite activities. After his untimely death in 1974, Jeanne joined the Ralston American Legion Auxiliary Post #373 (Lifetime member) and, among other things, volunteered with them at the Veteran’s Home, but she especially enjoyed visiting and caring for her grandchildren. She loved playing with her many bridge groups, bowling and golf leagues, and taking trips to Las Vegas (in later years, to Iowa) to “play the slots”. Jeanne took up oil painting in her 60’s, rekindling her love of art. She took classes at Metro Community College and painted several lovely pictures.
Jeanne passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the NE Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, NE, where she had lived since March 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny D. Houston; her parents, Asa & Johanna Whited; her brother, Robert Whited and her sister, Marjorie (Arthur) Larson.
She is survived by her children, Curt Houston of Honolulu, Scott (Janet) Houston and Catherine (Ron) Brandt both of Beaver Lake, NE; her grandchildren, Keli Houston (Thinh Pham) of Honolulu, Brandi Houston (Steve Gurtel) of West Dover, VT, Scott (Andrea) Spompinato of Ralston, Michael Houston (Brad Cone) of La Vista, Micaela (Casey) Hopkins of Omaha, Megan (Michael) Brueseke of Suffolk, VA and Molly (John) Wilson of Pierce, CO. She was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren: Boden, Claire, Titus, Soren and Griffin Brueseke; Jaymeson, Presley and Beckett Wilson; Jocie, Camryn and Delaney Lustgraaf. Also surviving are Jeanne’s only nephew, Robert (Kathy) Whited and niece, Pamela Whited, both of Omaha.

In Lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be directed to the Shriner's Hospital or the Donor's Choice.
