Joann Kay Bingham

January 27, 1951 — March 26, 2020

JoAnn Kay Bingham, of La Vista NE, born January 27, 1951 in Flint Michigan entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 26, 2020 following several months of home hospice care given by her sister Sue Bingham and her niece Kellie Bingham.

JoAnn, graduated from Flint Southwestern in 1969. Following graduation she attended Lee College in Cleveland TN. Upon returning to Flint she worked several years at McLaren Hospital and eventually fulfilled her lifelong dream of working at the Smoky Mountain Childrens home in Sevierville TN. She served there for 15 years. She began as a relief house parent and eventually assumed the responsibilities of purchase agent for the "Love Store" where she purchased supplies and clothing to disperse to children arriving at the home. She was greatly loved by the children she served.

JoAnn moved to Nebraska in 1991 and began working at AlegentHealth care (formerly Bergan Mercy) where she retired in 2015 due to health issues. She also worked for Omaha Public Schools. She was a paraprofessional with children and teens with disabilities . Her last school was Omaha Central High School. After she retired from Bergen Mercy ,she went to work for Children's Hospital and also Wal-Mart in Papillion.

JoAnn was a member of the Church of God, (Cleveland, TN) for many years. She dearly loved her family and especially loved doting on her nieces and nephews. She was especially attached to her newly adopted puppy Hope.

She loved working in the yard when able and took on the hobby of coloring after her health began deteriorating. She was a big collector of Frogs !

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Milford O. and Arlene (Young) Bingham and brother Roger Lee Bingham. She is survived by brother Rev. William O. (Norma) Bingham, sister Susan Bingham, special nieces Tammy Bingham and Kellie Bingham, and nephews Roger, Robert and Richard Bingham.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Until we meet again.

There will not be a service at this time but at a later date we will be having a celebration of JoAnn life ! In place of flowers donations can be made to the family !
