John B. Bober,

November 19, 1959 — October 5, 2018

John B. Bober Jr. was a faithful and compassionate man. He had a heart of gold and would help anybody in need whether it be a friend or a stranger.

John was a devoted husband to his wife of 35 years. He was a proud father of four children and a dedicated Uncle. No situation was ever too much for him to handle, he always had the "I can fix that" mentality.

He was born and raised in South Omaha. He was the oldest of three children. He recalled spending his days playing hockey, football and baseball. He was an alter boy at Holy Ghost Parish and received many Alter service awards. He graduated from Gross Catholic High School in 1978.John was a car lover and purchased his 1955 Chevy while attending Gross and restored it with his Dad. His love of cars lead him into the position of becoming a truck driver for Shared Service Systems. He also attended UNO briefly. In 1989, he started working for the United States Postal Service. He was a semi-truck driver until 1995 when he became a supervisor of transportation. He was set to retire with 30 years of service in January 2019.
John loved drag racing with his Father "Jack" and his Brother "Joe". On the weekends, they would take their nova called "the polish madman" to Scribner raceway. John raced in the super sport class and always wanted to be a super gas driver. Alongside racing these 3 also enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever they were not at the race track. John also really enjoyed Hunting with his best friend Pete Sasich and the two would come home with lots of stories.

John had a wonderful family life. He loved spending time with Phyllis, Ashley and Angela. Some of their favorite things to do as a family would be going to Cracker barrel on a Sunday morning, Vacationing in Minnesota with Phyllis's family, they also loved going to car shows all together. No matter what they were doing it was always fun as long as they were together. John loved that he got to spend the summer traveling with his family.
