John was born in West Point, Nebraska on June 20, 1939 to Hans and Ella Buchholz. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1957 and also participated in Boys State in 1956. He served in the United States Army from 1963-1965. He was employed for many years with Gammell Construction with his brother Dean. He was also a 50 year member of the Cement Mason Union. He enjoyed Horsemen's Park, Aksarben Race Track, watching golf and time with his family and friends. He passed away peacefully in Omaha, Nebraska on January 21, 2025 at the age of 85 years old. John was preceded in death by his parents Hans and Ella Buchholz; brothers Rollan (Dixie) Buchholz, Robert (Mary) Buchholz, Myron (Carolyn) Buchholz, and Dean (Doris) Buchholz; sister Carolyn (Noel) Antongiorgi. He is survived by his brother Thomas (Judy) Buchholz; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Private inurnment at the Omaha National Cemetery The Buchholz family has requested no flowers. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Moving Veteran's Forward or Siena Francis House.
