John attended Edward Rosewater Elementary School and graduated from South High School in 1960. He attended college for 1-2 years at Omaha University. John worked at Hinky Dinky Supermarket for 26 years and Bakers for 10 years. In 1966, John married Barbara Magill in Herman, Nebraska and to this marriage 3 children were born; Scott (Jeanette), Mark (Heather) and Julie (John) Muhlecke.
John delighted in working with wood, making birdhouses, furniture pieces, and trapping and releasing a total of 867 squirrels. One of John's famous sayings to his grandchildren was "always look down!"
John is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister. He is survived by his loving wife, Barb; children Scott, Mark, and Julie; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and sisters Marsha O'Gorman and Mary Flegle.
