Johnny Joe Brezina, age 75, passed away at his residence in Papillion, Nebraska on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Johnny was born on May 29, 1948, in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was the second of seven children born to Joseph and Jeanette M. Brezina. He grew up on a farm near Stanton, Iowa, where he often reminisced about his childhood adventures. Johnny graduated from Stanton High School in 1967. After graduating from high school, Johnny enlisted in the United States Army and was deployed to serve in the Vietnam War. Throughout his service in Vietnam, Johnny earned numerous awards, including the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1970. Upon his return home, Johnny worked at Kenworth Trucking Sales in Omaha as a parts service technician until he faced challenges being on his feet for extended periods of time. Eventually, he was classified as a Disabled Vietnam Veteran. Johnny married Jeanette A. Tefft on September 28, 1974, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They purchased their first home together in 1974 and have resided in Papillion for over 49 years. During their marriage, they welcomed two boys; Jason and Joey. Johnny found joy in fishing and hunting for as long as he was able. He was known for his friendly demeanor and willingness to engage in conversation with anyone. Johnny had a wealth of knowledge to share and was always happy to do so. He took immense pride in his sons, Jason and Joey, for their entrepreneurial endeavors. Johnny could often be found at the shop, always willing to run an errand to be helpful. One of his favorite pastimes was taking his grandson, Jackson, fishing; while Jackson caught the fish, Johnny helped him take them off the hook. Johnny is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Jeanette; his loving sons Jason (partner Amy Davis) and Joey (Angie); his cherished grandson Jackson. He also leaves behind his siblings Jenny, Terry, Ronnie, Timmy, and Jimmy; sisters-in-law Nancy Simerson and Mary Jane Ross; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jeanette; and brother, Randy. As we honor the memory of Johnny, we are considering ways to create a lasting tribute that reflects his life and service. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for your support in contributing to a memorial plaque to be placed at the Vietnam Memorial Park.
