Jonathan E. Peterson

December 5, 1956 — March 19, 2024

Jonathan Edwards Peterson was a unique individual.

Born in North Dakota, as a child he moved frequently.  In high school he found himself in Windom, MN where he met the love of his life, Fay Peterson (Molitor)

Jon’s passion for life and music lead him to play in many bands. He studied and taught cello. He also sang and played lead guitar and bass. He had a rotating musical equipment set up that brought him joy. Jon also enjoyed cooking, driving his motorcycle and sports car, and making people laugh.

Jon had a quick sarcastic wit that made many people laugh. He often responded to questions with the answer, “Whatever is the most trouble.”

He was a devoted father and loved to spend time with his ”wild child”. He took immense pride in his daughter Merinda.

Jon retired from UNO where he was the Lead Multimedia Technology Coordinator. He loved to solve problems and get into the technical details. Even in retirement he still read manuals and did research on new technology.

Jon's favorite place was home. A house that he saw on a walk and was delighted to be able to move into. He loved the natural skylights and space to spread out.

The family plans to have an open house on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

We grieve his loss. His memory will live on in jokes that he told and moments from our lives.

Jon was survived by his loving wife of 46 years Fay E. Peterson; children Merinda (Mike) Collins; granddaughter Alexia Williams; siblings Dave (Donna)  Peterson, James (Cheryl) Peterson, Mary Ann (Gilbert) Markarian.
