Joy Lynn Welk passed away on September 10, 2010 while surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Great Falls, Montana on September 2, 1969 to Debbe Peles of Yuma, Arizona and Dan Stimac of Great Falls, Montana. She grew up in Montana and graduated from Great Falls High School. Shortly after high school she married Jonathan Welk on December 5th, 1987. Joy and John moved to Omaha Nebraska in 1993 where they have lived since that time. They were blessed with a son Tanner in 1992 and a daughter Meagan in 1995. In 2000 Joy achieved her nursing degree and worked for 10 years as a labor and delivery nurse fulfilling her purpose of helping others up until the time of her illness. Joy has touched the lives of so very many people and is widely considered to have a heart of gold. She has been an amazing mother, a beautiful wife, a loving daughter and sister, a fantastic friend, and an inspiration to many. Joy is preceded in death by her sister Jodi and her grandparents Dick and Ilene Cukasin and Jim and Marian Stimac. She is survived by her husband John, two wonderful children Tanner and Meagan, Mother Debbe, father Dan, brother Blaine, nephews Parker and Boston and niece Melissa. A memorial fund has been created at the Omaha Firefighters Credit Union for those wishing to help with medical expenses.
