Judy M. Drake

Judy Marie (Barrett) Drake passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9th, 2025, with her children and grandchildren beside her after a several month long battle with illness. Judy was born June 26, 1944 in Shenandoah, Iowa, to her parents Ross and Dorothy Barrett. She attended Shenandoah community schools, graduating in 1962 in her class of 104 students. In high school she enjoyed vocal music and was an active member of the Shenandoah Pep Club.

Judy married James (Jim) Drake on May 5th, 1962. They moved to La Vista, Nebraska where Jim owned and operated a service station, before starting an auto-parts store in Plattsmouth then Papillion. Together, they lovingly raised three honest, hard-working, and boisterous children: Kenny, Laurie, and Curt.

In her free time Judy loved spending time with her loved ones. Particularly, she enjoyed the many summers she spent at the family lakehouse in Lakeview, Iowa. As Judy matured, she strengthened her relationship with God at the Living Faith Church of the Nazarene. She was known to enjoy ceramics, quilting, and grew an impressive collection of precious moments figurines and porcelain dolls.

On January 11, 2000, Jim succumbed to cancer. Despite his loss, Judy was surrounded by a large family of her siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Almost precisely 25 years later, Judy joins her husband in the kingdom of Heaven where he has been patiently waiting and watching over her and their growing family.

Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband James Drake; parents Ross and Dorothy Barrett; brother Ronald Barrett; brother-in-law David Moore.

Judy is survived by her children Kenny (Kari) Drake, Laurie (Ray) Mullen, Curt (Debbie) Drake; grandchildren Samantha (Justin) Allen, Lindsey Drake, Jim Drake, Austin Mullen, Jackson Mullen, Jocelyn Mullen, Tim (Kristin) Drake, Katie Drake, and Jacob Drake; great grandchildren Amelia Allen, Aiden Drake, and Paisley Drake; sister Barbara Moore and many more family and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the Cornerstone Christian School (1001 Fort Crook Rd., Bellevue, NE 68005).
