In loving memory of Larry Carl Dowell, 68, born 12/29/1955 in Brookfield, Missouri. Larry passed peacefully in his home with his daughters and fur babies by his side. Larry was dedicated to the Air Force after graduating from Brookfield High School and sworn in on April 14th, 1975. He went into basic training and graduated in the mechanical career field at Kirksville Air Force. In 1976, Larry was promoted to Airman First Class: A1/c Dowell, quality phase inspector on 135-4 engine jets at the 55 organizational maintenance squadron, Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. After serving his country, Larry became an experienced carman and a skilled welder, working for the Union Pacific for 38 years. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. All who knew him, he loved deeply. To know him was to love him. Larry found great enjoyment fishing, attending family cookouts, hunting, and traveling to visit family in Missouri. He is survived by his two daughters, Amanda (Travis) Simoneau, of Gretna, Nebraska and Tammy Dowell, of La Vista, Nebraska; brother Charles (Debbie) Dowell, of Missouri; sister Sue Allen, of Missouri; grandchildren Triston Kinnison (Morgan Sherman), Mya Simoneau, Hayley Dowell (Dylan Coop), Hope Dowell (Jacob Lundy), and Dylan Akins; great-granddaughter Wrenley; and leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he loved tremendously. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Regina and Carl Dowell; brother Teddy Dowell; son Jason Dowell; former in-laws, Irene and Richard Johnson; and brother-in-law Marvin Allen. Larry was one of a kind. He was always goofing around to make others happy and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. If you were friends, you were family. Larry will be deeply missed by all. May he rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the family for contributions to the Gretna American Legion and Gretna Fire Department
