Leonard Michael Ross, 77, passed away on November 20, 2024 at home in Omaha, NE. Born on November 03, 1947, Leonard, affectionately known as Lenny, was a beacon of joy and love throughout his entire life. Lenny served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1968. After his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career as an optician for over 40 years, spending 32 years with Klauer Optical until his retirement. He regarded his colleagues as a second family and dedicated his career to helping others see the beauty of the world more clearly. A passionate bowler, Lenny was a proud member of the Dubuque 700 club. He achieved an 800 series and bowled three perfect games of 300, accomplishments that brought him great pride and joy that he was able to enjoy while bowling with his son. Golf was another of his cherished hobbies, providing him with many hours of pleasure and relaxation. He enjoyed his fishing trips with his wife and many friends to Minnesota each year. Family was the cornerstone of Lenny’s life. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol (Sutherland) Ross, known to many as Suds; his son, Richard (Sarah) Ross and granddaughter Kaycee Ross of Yukon, OK; his daughter, Michelle Ross of Omaha, NE; brothers Larry Ross of Onawa, IA, Lowell (Kay) Ross of Council Bluffs, IA, Les Ross of Onawa, IA; sisters Marcy (Dean) Janssen of Omaha, NE, Mary Binderup (Norm Wordekemper) of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Chris Griffin of Pierce, NE; sister-in-law, Jeanne Sutherland of Lincoln, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lenny was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Margaret Ross; parents-in-law, Gene and Marian Sutherland; brother Leon Ross; sisters Marvil Summerfield and Marilyn Ross; sister-in-law Barb Ross; and brother-in-law Steve Binderup. In his later years, Lenny returned to Omaha to be closer to his siblings, cherishing the time spent surrounded by family. His presence brought light and laughter to every gathering, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Inurnment to take place at a later date at the Onawa Cemetery (Onawa, Iowa).
