Born in a small town in Iowa, educated in a one room school house LuEtta was an active energetic girl. She worked hard, she played hard. She gathered eggs, milked cows, explored the family farm for arrowheads, played a trombone in the “family orchestra,” learned to drive in her brother’s Model T Ford, and played high school basketball. She longed for the big city and headed to Omaha, Nebraska. After business college, she worked at Merchants Biscuit. One night while bowling with friends she had a chance meeting and met the true north to her south, her soul’s other half, her Joseph to his “Sam”. Then on May 19, 1956 they were united in marriage and became one. She was everyone’s favorite Aunt, trusted friend, true confidant. LuEtta and Joe, always a striking, elegant couple completed each other’s sentences, loved their sports, and had grand adventures. They traveled and explored on countless cross-country trips, and as they aged, they traveled out of the country. Once LuEtta had her first child, she stayed home to raise her children and was involved in their activities and created a loving home. At a friend’s prompting, she re-entered the work force as a Nurse’s Aide and split her time between several schools and also loved being an Avon lady. LuEtta made countless friends in all areas of her life because she listened with her heart and hugged with her words. Once she became a grandmother, they became her pride and joy. She loved them beyond measure. She was their cheerleader, their champion. LuEtta had a special gift. She had a big heart and touched so many people with her kindness, compassion and understanding. She listened, truly listened with intensity; she remembered, she encouraged, she comforted, and she loved. She was never sad, mopey, or blue to the end of her earthly existence; she saw positive in everything and never complained. A true innocent. LuEtta loved butterflies, angels, her collections, Virgin Mary, and Christmas. She devoted her later years to prayer. She and Joseph were an ever constant at countless funerals to honor friends and family who had gone before them. It seemed every day her prayer list grew, and as it grew so did her devotion, and it deepened her connection to heaven above. When she prayed for you, you felt it. LuEtta was a true Angel on earth here to make your day brighter, lighter, and warmer. On November 24, 2023, heaven reclaimed an Angel. So, on the first warm spring day when you see your first butterfly, remember LuEtta. She broke her earthly chrysalis and has fluttered her new wings and is smiling from her heavenly home. Peace.
LuEtta is survived by her husband Joseph; daughter Paula and son Steven; 2 grandchildren, siblings Eleanor Gibson, Edward (Lois) Nagel, Virginia (Ron) Chenault, sister-in-law Dona Nagel and countless nieces and nephews.
