age 50, of Murray, NE Retired Major - USAF Passed away October 1, 2009 in Ft. Smith AR. Born June 10, 1959 at Ellsworth AFB, So. Dakota, his 21 years service with the USAF included Navigator on Looking Glass at Offutt AFB, NE; Navigator at Bangor Maine; editor of Air Force Torch Safety magazine, Randolph AFB, TX; and taught English at the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, CO. Mark was a graduate of Bellevue High School, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and received a Masters in English from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, NE. He put up a courageous fight against MS for the past 12 years and is loved and greatly missed by family and friends. Met with open arms by grandparents Elmer and Archie Carter, Fred and Daisy Myers Survived by loving wife Joan (Novotny) sons Lee and Ryan daughter Aubrey - all of Murray, NE parents Carroll and Glenda Carter sister Deana (Jerry) Smith nephews Alan and Roman father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Carolyn Novotny brothers-in-law Dale, Glenn, and Jim Novotny many aunts, uncles, and cousins Eulogy will be delivered by his uncle Dr. Earl B. Carter. Interment Graceland Park Cemetery. Military honors by Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the MS Society in his honor.
