Moser, Marlene Ruth Koger Lewis – Age 87
Marlene was born 7/10/1931 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Jim and May Koger.Marlene had a brother, Frank Koger, and two sisters, Alice Jean Michaelis and Bonnee Moorman Jones.She graduated from East High in Des Moines in 1949 and then married Wilbur H. Lewis the same year.Three children were born to Marlene and Wilbur:Junie, Laura and Richard.
Marlene was a member of Hanscom Park United Methodist Church in Omaha for many years and served as a Sunday School teacher for a few of those years.
Wilbur passed away in 1983 and Marlene worked for B. Ruben Co. doing sales work for 20 plus years.
While visiting a friend in Arizona, she became reacquainted with James Moser, whom she knew from Des Moines.Marlene married Jim in 2000 and moved to Mesa, AZ.Jimpassed away in 2002, but she remained in Arizona, enjoying the weather and calling herself a "desert rat".
Marlene enjoyed traveling to visit family and to explore new places.Whether it was the beauty of a location, or the history of a region, she was always willing to get on the road and explore.The North Shore of Lake Superior was one of her favorite locations to visit.Family was always important.
Marlene was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering at the Apache Wells community library.She taught her daughters to sew and made household decorations and clothes.Marlene also volunteered for Dresses for Orphans, which embellishes T-shirts for boys and converts T-shirts to dresses for girls, and sends them around the world to children in need.She was an active member of Apache Wells Community Church in Mesa, AZ.
Marlene passed away in Omaha on October 22, 2018 having been able to say her good-byes to friends and family ahead of time.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, daughter Junie Perkins Bates, and both husbands.
Marlene is survived by her son Richard Lewis and daughter Laura DeLong, plus grandson Mark Perkins (Sarah Perkins), and granddaughters Kim Arslan (Tony Hanifi Arslan) and Catlin Bates.Three great grandsons and two great-great grandsons also survive Marlene.We will all miss her very much.
