Maurice Winston Weicht passed away peacefully at his home in Ralston, Nebraska on February 24, 2022 at the age 86 years.
Maurice was born in LeMars, Iowa to Merle and Ruth (Carney) Weicht on September 2, 1935.He went to school at Marcus, Iowa and joined the Army serving four years at Fort Benning, Georgia.He married Norma Benson and they had three children together; Jamie, Kimberly and Clay and they later divorced.He met Joyce Jones when he worked as a meat cutter at Ralph's Market in Sioux Falls, SD.They married on May 6, 1962 and had three children together, Mitch, Lynn, and Chad.They lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and he later went on to work in sales for Hiland from which he retired.In 1982, they moved to Ralston, Nebraska where he worked and retired from Old Home Bread Co.As a man who found it difficult to retire, Maurice then worked part time at HyVee Food Stores keeping the shelves full with fresh bread.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; son Jamie; six brothers Marvin, Veryle, Lyle, Darrel, Delmar and Harry; two sisters Velma and Theda.
Maurice is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce;sons Clay Hanson, Mitch Weicht and Chad Weicht; daughters Kimberly Hanson Carter (Ed) and Lynn Mueller (Dan); brother David Weicht; sister Karen Green; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
