Frances "Frannie" Di Mauro Badger, age 90, passed away peacefully with her daughter Suzanne holding her and her son Ralph at her side on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska.She was born on October 23, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska to Alfio F. Di Mauro and Rosa Fano Di Mauro, proud Italian immigrants, who lived in Omaha's little Italy. She was a 1945 graduate of Omaha Tech High School.She married Donald J Badger in 1950 and had two children, Ralph F. Badger and Suzanne Rose Badger. Divorced in 1959 she began a new chapter of her life as a single mother.She worked in Underwriting for Royal Globe Insurance Company for over twenty- nine years.She was a past president of the Insurance Women of Omaha group and was a member of the Omaha Sports Club League and loved bowling at Chop's Bowling Alley on Sunday afternoons and her Tuesday night women's league at Skylanes.Frances was also active with the Sons of Italy Society and the Regina Elena.
Most of all Frances was passionate about her family as she always put her beloved children first.She supported her children in all their activities. She was also the neighborhood chauffeur for her children and all of their friends and everyone would call her Aunt Fran. In the early sixties she moved with her children to her parent's house on 7th and Center.Frances was not only a devoted mother but also a devoted daughter to her parents.She cared for both her parents as they aged as they had cared for her young family. Frances adored her granddaughters Laura and Katie and was so proud of the women they became. She loved cats and took excellent care of them.She loved her Nebraska Huskers and Vince Ferragamo was her favorite player.She loved going to the College World Series every year with her daughter and enjoying all the fans year after year. In the nineties she became a NASCAR fan and went to races in Daytona, Bristol Tennessee, Talladega, North Wilkesboro, Phoenix and Charlotte.She also became a Dale Earnhardt fan!She battled Alzheimer's disease for many years but was loved by everyone everywhere she went for her beautiful smile and her sense of fun.Frances was a woman of deep faith.Frannie truly made the world a better place.
Frances is survived by her children Ralph (Susan) Badger and Suzanne Rose Badger. Also surviving her are her granddaughters, Laura (Mike) Beck and Katie Badger and great grandchildren Sebastian (subby) and Livia Beck. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Rosemary Mangiamele, Gregory Mahoney, Gary Mangiamele, Frank, John, Jim, David, Gina and Amy Di Mauro.
She joins in heaven her parents, Alfio and Rosa Di Mauro, beloved brother Sebastiano (Subby) (Nunce) Di Mauro, sisters, Louise Mangiamele and Josephine Mahoney and the brothers she will meet for the first time Francesco and Sebastiano (both passed in the flu epidemic of 1918).She also joins her beloved precious kitties Marmalade Michael, Muluboy, Chelsea, Lucky, Alfred and Pearl Elizabeth.
