Nuer Abraham Yuek Was born to the union of Abraham Yuek and Haregewoin Workineh on May 6, 2001, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Nuer and his mother reunited with his father on December 6, 2011, in Omaha, Nebraska. Nuer studied his elementary school in Bellevue, NE, and went to Middle school and finally attended Papillion La Vista South High School, where he graduated in 2019 in Papillion Nebraska and was a freshman at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK).
On July 30, 2020, Nuer was shot and killed in his parent's home by a friend he had accommodated and sheltered in his residence.
To his parents, Nuer was a caring, loving, and helpful firstborn who obeyed his parents and elders. His love for his sibling was exceptional and dearly missed. Nuer was known for his soft-spoken, his utmost intellect and quiet demeanor. Nuer departed at the age of 19 years and was survived by his parents, sister Nyayow, brothers Koang, Yuek, Jal, and his half-brother Gai.
His passing has appalled and outraged relatives, friends, and Communities in the United States, South Sudan, and in his birth country of Ethiopia. The Family requests religious leaders to pray to the Lord to reconcile the broken hearts of his uncle Ruot Yuek Gai in South Sudan, his Grandmother, and his first cousin, Mahider Zelalem, in Ethiopia girlfriend Kristy Powel and Tesloach Peter Khor Malual here in the United States.
