Patricia D. (O'Tool) Strauss

Patricia Dorothy (O'Tool) Strauss was born on January 26, 1942 in Lake View, Iowa to James and Julitta (Pudenz) O'Tool. On October 1, 1966 she married the love of her life Richard Strauss at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Auburn, Iowa. Throughout high school she was Head Majorette, Homecoming Queen and Valedictorian of the class of 1959. Patricia attended college at Northwest Missouri State and University of Nebraska-Omaha. She stayed home with her girls while they were young and then worked as an Executive Assistant at Magnavox, Duncan Hines, Pioneer Federal and First Data Resources. Pat was a Certified Professional Secretary and a member of the National Secretaries Association. She was an active member of Church of the Holy Spirit (Plattsmouth) and Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, taking part in Altar Society and the Newman Club. As a child she was a member of the Sac Sunbeams 4-H Club (Iowa) and later was a 4-H Leader (Plattsmouth). She also volunteered with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and at Gross Catholic High School. Patricia died on Saturday, January 27, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Patricia is survived by her husband Richard Strauss; her daughters Julie (Garrett) Soukup, Andrea (Rob) Mendick, and Mary (Chad) Anderson; her grandchildren Megan & Olivia Soukup, Emily, Molly & Sebastian Mendick and Thomas, Christian & Evan Anderson; brothers Ken (Lois) O'Tool and Steve O'Tool (Vicki Grundmeier); sisters Jean Schumacher and Karen (Randy) Neumayer; sisters-in-law Joyce O'Tool, Katie Gladheim, Lucille Wahl, Audrey Larson, Arlene Ehni and Judy (Tommy) Schaudel; and brothers-in-law Art Weigelt, Joe Strauss and John (Jennifer) Strauss. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father & mother-in-law Joe & Ida Strauss; brothers Dennis O'Tool and Merle O'Tool; brothers-in-law Duane Schumacher, Don Strauss, Ole Gladheim, Jim Larson, Jim Strauss; and sister-in-law Elaine Weigelt.
